there comes a day when turning the page is the best feeling in the world, because you realize there is so much more to the book than the page you were stuck on.Zayn Malik
It’s unbelievable how fast time goes by, isn’t? I still remember myself sitting on my bed last year, trying to come up with some ways to become a better self again. I mean, new beginnings are always my best buddies, but at the end of the year, I literally get obsessed with watching youtube videos about new years resolutions and how to get my mess together. But I’m probably not the only only one, huh? : D
In my opinion, having goals to reach is very important. I think there’s nobody in this world who could actually say that they’re completely happy with everything in their life ( but if you are, please comment down below so we can talk!), and having goals motivates us to overcome bad situations and feelings.
And yeah, now I’m sitting here again, and guess what – why shouldn’t I share some of my New Year’s resolutions with you? Maybe you could use them as a little kick of inspiration! So grab a cup of coffee & let’s dive into it!
1 // MAKE NEW FRIENDS
It’s not like I wouldn’t already have the best friend on earth, but I think being socially active and making new contacts is very important for my wellbeing, especially because of my tendency to be a loner. But how do you make friends? I was never good at pretending to be an extrovert, walking up to new people was just impossible for me. But guys, this has to change now! It just makes my life more difficult than it already is, okay? 2020 will be the year of mental freedom and open-mindedness! If you would like to read a blog post about how to make friends aka tips and hacks on how to become a social person, just comment down below so I can see that I’m not the only one needs help to be a normal human being ; D
2 // LAUNCH MY FIRST ONLINE COURSE
Baby, it’s just the beginning! I have so many plans for my blog, so many plans on how to share my experiences & how to create mental health + stutter awareness on here, it’s unbelievable! One of my new projects for the new year is to finally launch my own online course, but psssst, the topic is still a secret!
3 // BECOME A PLANT NANNY
To be honest, I’m very untalented when it’s about carrying for plants. As a child, I never understood why we have plants inside our houses – they belong outside where they can look after themselves! But my mom was a little plant fanatic, so we had like hundreds in our living room. And yes, sometimes it was my job to look after them, and yes, most of the time I forgot about it. RIP, little plants! But this year, I want to learn how to be a good plant nanny, so wish me luck ( & pray for the plants)!
4 // FIGHT EVERY SINGLE POINT ON MY LIST OF FEARS
Sometimes I have the feeling that I’m too afraid to really live. I’m too afraid to talk to people, I’m too afraid of going out because of my body, not to mention my non-existential love life. And I’m so tired of it. These are the last few months in which I’m still a child, and I don’t want to waste it anymore. Thats why I’ve created a list with all of my fears. And I’ll beat every single one of them, at least once this year!
5 // VISIT SCHREVENIGGEN
Crazy name, isn’t it? Schreveniggen is a city on the coast of the Netherlands where my parents often went with us when we were very little. It’s very cool there, and I’ve always loved it to spend my summer holidays eating ice cream & building sandcastles on the beach. Besides the beautiful promenade and a beautiful beach there are many shops and boutiques to check out, so its definitly worth a visit!
6 // GO TO THE NF EUROPE TOUR
I never went to a real concert before, you know? But last summer I discovered NF ( or Nathan Feuerstein ) and was instantly caught by his lyrics – and bought a ticket for one of his concerts in Germany! Sadly none of my friends are into rap, so I still have no one to join me, but who cares! I’ll have a date night with myself then, I guess : )
Here’s one of my favorite of his songs:
7 // VISIT AMSTERDAM
Amsterdam was always one of my favorite cities. I always had a special love for the Netherlands. My mother was born there, you know, so we spend most of our holidays in a little village near Apeldoorn. But Amsterdam has this special flair – I just love it! And it’s just two hours away from where I live!
8 // GET MY EARS PIERCED
Something I always dreamed of – to get my ears pierced! I have a whole Pinterest board full of piercing inspiration and already done it by myself last summer ( it’s not as painful as you think and so freakin easy haha). And this year I want to fulfill my piercing dreams completely – I already have some plans, so stay tuned!
9 // VISIT LONDON
London- the city of dreams! It’s the place where I instantly felt like coming home, both times I went there. So it’s not a question that I have to go there this year again! Maybe even with Michelle, who knows? : D
10 // GET MY OWN BANK ACCOUNT
Yes, sounds kinda weird, but still don’t have my own bank account. My parents would have to go there with me to sign the papers, but they say it’s not necessary for me to get my own account right now. I should wait till I’m 18 so I can do it by myself. And this is the year of my 18th birthday, so yeah, here I come!
11 // HAVE MOSTLY A’s ON MY SCHOOL REPORT
My time at school is slowly going to end, so every report I get is more and more important from now on. I’m not a bad student, my exam grades are actually pretty great, but I’m very very quiet & introverted. I don’t know how it gets handled in other countries, but in Germany, your oral participation makes 50% of your report grade. Ergo – I need to work on my confidence, because I don’t want my introvertness to ruin my future!
12 // LOSE WEIGHT & GET HEALTHY AGAIN
It’s not a secret that I have problems with my weight, self-love and mental health. And let’s stay realistic – it won’t be possible to overcome them in just one year. But I want to start working on them! Lets see how much I’ll reach this year.
14 // GET MY FIRST TATTOO
I’ve always dreamed of getting a tattoo. In this year I’ll take that dream into reality! I already have an idea of what to make and also when and where to get it, but psst, it’s also still a secret!
15 // GET MY CAMBRIDGE CERTIFICATE
This year its the year I’ll get the chance to get my Cambridge certificate – a certificate I need to study abroad, or in other words – in London! This would be a dream come true to me, thats why I just have to pass this exam. Wish me luck!
17 // GET MY LICENSE
I’m already taking theory courses, but 2020 will be the year in which I will finally hold the license in my hand. And that already leads us to point 18:
18 // BUY MY FIRST CAR
Never take the bus again! Have the freedom to go wherever you want, whenever you want to! After taking the bus for 12 years now, I can’t wait to finally get my own car! Sadly I still have to save so much money, I’m not quite sure if it’s possible to buy one this year. But who knows?
19 // READ AT LEAST 24 BOOKS
As a child, I was such a passionate reader! Unfortunately in 2019, I read just 2 books! What happened?! Reading is so calming and helpful to manage the stress I’m always involved in, thats why I decided to read 24 books in 2020 – or in other words: 2 books per month! Check out my Goodreads profile for updates and reviews or check out my Instagram story for my reading process!
20 // MOVE OUT
This is a point I’m not quite sure if 2020 is the right year to tackle it, but maybe I’ll have to. That’s why I dont want and just cannot give you more information about it, but its definitly on my bucket list – if not in this year, then in 2021!
Did you find some inspiration? Because now it’s your time to set up your own resolutions! Just grab a piece of paper or your phone, and start creating the year of your dreams! Oh, and I also would love to hear them! Just comment them down below & let’s meet in the comment section!
